Building on decades of cartridge manufacturing expertise, Excel Sound continues to advance Hana cartridge design by combining traditional Japanese craftsmanship with modern materials and precision engineering. Innovations developed for the M Series and flagship Umami models first made their way into the S Series MK II and are now incorporated into the E Series MK II, bringing technology from Hana’s higher-tier cartridges to this popular range.

The “E” designation refers to the elliptical diamond stylus used throughout the series. While retaining the Alnico magnet that contributes to Hana’s rich, engaging musical character, the E Series MK II introduces a number of refinements designed to elevate performance. Inspired by the M Series, the redesigned body features a brass cap that adds mass for improved vibration control, along with threaded mounting holes that make installation and alignment on compatible tonearms easier.

Key generator components and output pins also receive the same cryogenic treatment used throughout the Hana range, including the reference Umami Series. Designed to enhance electrical conductivity and preserve the integrity of the cartridge’s delicate signal, these refinements help the E Series MK II deliver a more sophisticated level of vibration control, signal transmission, and overall analog performance.
